🛸🥓 Astronaut’s Breakfast ☕👽

For three years, Andrey had dreamed of one breakfast.

Not alien moon muffins.

Not glowing plasma pancakes.

Not the chef’s famous anti-gravity omelet that floated gently above the plate until you caught it with a fork.

No.

He missed home.

Real home.

The breakfast his grandmother used to make every Saturday morning while country music played softly on an old kitchen radio.

When the long-awaited package from Earth finally arrived, the entire crew gathered around like children on Christmas morning.

And then…

It vanished.

The treasured breakfast tube was gone.

The crew searched everywhere.

Behind the quantum toaster.

Inside the captain’s navigation helmet.

Even under Barsik, the ship’s cat, who looked suspiciously satisfied.

After an hour of frantic searching, they discovered the missing package tucked inside the ship’s food replicator.

The poor machine had been scanning it for three days, repeatedly displaying one confused message:

ERROR. TOO MUCH HAPPINESS TO DUPLICATE.

The chef carefully removed the tube and prepared the feast exactly as instructed.

Moments later the dining hall filled with aromas no alien had ever imagined.

Fluffy buttermilk biscuits swimming in creamy sausage gravy.

Golden scrambled eggs with melted cheddar.

Crispy applewood-smoked bacon.

Sausage patties sizzling beside hash browns so perfectly crisp they practically applauded.

Thick slices of buttered sourdough toast.

Stacks of blueberry pancakes dripping with warm maple syrup.

Belgian waffles crowned with whipped butter.

Fresh cinnamon rolls still warm from the oven.

A bowl of ripe strawberries, blueberries, and peaches.

Fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Bottomless mugs of rich Earth coffee.

The room fell silent.

The captain took one bite.

“…We crossed half the galaxy for this?”

Another bite.

“…We’re absolutely doing it again.”

Barsik stole a strip of bacon, leapt onto the captain’s chair, and immediately began purring “America the Beautiful” in perfect harmony.

The chef slowly closed his notebook.

“I’ve mastered seventeen forms of quantum cuisine,” he sighed.

“And yet…”

He looked lovingly at the empty biscuit basket.

“I have been defeated by flour, butter… and bacon.”

Andrey leaned back with the happiest smile he’d worn in three years.

It wasn’t just breakfast.

For one wonderful morning…

It tasted exactly like home.

🏴☠ Cabin Boy’s Trophy 🪙🦜

The pirate brig One-Eyed Storm rocked lazily on emerald waves while the crew gathered for the most entertaining event of the week—a pirate trial.

The judge was the captain.

The jury was whoever yelled the loudest.

And the lawyer…

was a green parrot named Pickles.

“GUILTY!” squawked Pickles before anyone had spoken.

“We haven’t started yet,” sighed the captain.

“GUILTY!” repeated Pickles.

“Fair enough.”

In the middle of the deck stood young Finn, the red-haired cabin boy, clutching something tightly in his fist.

“A thief!” bellowed the cook.

“He stole from the treasure!” shouted the gunner.

The captain scratched his beard.

“Let’s see the evidence.”

Slowly, Finn opened his hand.

A single gold coin.

Not a pouch.

Not a jewel.

Just one shiny pirate coin.

The crew burst into laughter.

“One coin?”

“You risked the whip for ONE coin?”

Finn nodded.

“I found it.”

“It wasn’t in the treasure chest,” Finn explained.

“It was hidden beneath an old stone altar on Skull Cay.”

The crew leaned closer.

Even Pickles stopped yelling.

“It had strange markings. When I picked it up, it began to glow.”

The captain raised an eyebrow.

“A magical coin?”

Finn nodded.

“It whispered…”

“Only the kind-hearted may claim the true treasure.”

The pirates rolled their eyes.

“Then what happened?” asked the captain.

“The jungle came alive!”

Trees walked.

Monkeys stole my boots.

A dragon-sized crab chased me for half a mile.

I escaped by riding a giant sea turtle that sneezed me across a river.

Then a tiny golden fairy appeared.”

“A fairy?” laughed the boatswain.

“With pirate boots,” Finn said proudly.

“She told me the coin wasn’t money.”

“It was a trophy.”

“A reward for choosing to rescue a lost baby sea dragon instead of taking the treasure chest.”

The crew became very quiet.

“So…” asked the captain.

“You left an entire chest of gold behind…”

“…for a crying dragon?”

Finn shrugged.

“It looked lonely.”

The captain stared.

Then he laughed so hard his hat fell off.

“By Blackbeard’s beard…”

“That may be the most pirate thing I’ve ever heard.”

The crew looked confused.

The captain held up the glowing coin.

“This isn’t treasure.”

“It’s proof.”

“Gold can be stolen.”

“But earning a magical trophy?”

He tossed the coin back to Finn.

“Only one pirate aboard this ship deserves it.”

Pickles puffed out his feathers.

“NOT GUILTY!”

Everyone cheered.

The captain slapped Finn on the back.

“Bring the cabin boy a double helping of pie!”

“We’re out of pie,” said the cook.

“Then give him two oranges.”

“We’re out of oranges.”

“…Fine.”

“Double rum?”

Finn grinned.

“I’m twelve.”

The captain sighed.

“Right…”

“Double pudding!”

The pirates roared with laughter.

And from that day on, whenever someone bragged about finding treasure, another pirate would grin and say,

“Aye… but did the treasure ever choose you?”

Finn’s magical gold coin remained around his neck for the rest of his adventures—a trophy that reminded everyone aboard the One-Eyed Storm that the greatest pirates weren’t always the richest…

Sometimes they were simply the kindest. 🏴☠🪙✨

The Cabin Boy’s Trophy

On the brig One-Eyed Storm, the crew had gathered for the most solemn of pirate rituals: a trial. Spit flew over the rail instead of oaths. The ship’s parrot, Justice, already hopped on its perch screaming “Guilty! Guilty!” just to stay in practice. At the center of the deck stood the red-haired, freckled cabin boy everyone called Pepper, fists clenched around something small and shiny he had tried (and failed) to hide in his hammock while the others divided the day’s loot.
“Thief!”
“To the hold!”
“Keelhaul the little barnacle!”
Pepper’s voice cracked across the deck. “I’m not a thief! It’s mine! By right! By law! By… by…”
The captain, a man whose one good eye could stare down a hurricane, raised a scarred hand. Silence fell so hard even the parrot choked mid-squawk.
“By what right, puppy?” the captain asked, almost gently. “You were on the raid?”
“Yes.”
“Took the loot with the rest of us?”
“Yes.”
“And now this is suddenly yours?”
Pepper swallowed. The captain stepped closer, leaned down until his beard nearly brushed the boy’s freckles, and spoke soft enough that only the front row heard.
“Tell me what it is and why you’re willing to risk the whip for it. And don’t lie. I smell lies a mile off. The crew half a mile. The parrot three feet—though that’s debatable.”
Laughter cracked the tension like a snapped spar. Pepper took a breath that smelled of tar, salt, and pure terror… and began.

Three nights earlier, while the One-Eyed Storm lay at anchor off a nameless reef and the crew snored off a victory rum, Pepper had been sent to “check the bilge for rats.” What he found instead was a loose plank, a curious current, and the worst idea of his short life: he slipped overboard for a quick swim.
The current grabbed him like a debt collector. It dragged him through a forest of kelp, past a school of fish that looked personally offended, and into a half-sunken wreck whose figurehead was a mermaid wearing an expression of eternal disappointment.
Inside the wreck floated a single iron-bound chest. Pepper, being twelve and therefore immortal, pried it open. Inside lay one solitary gold coin, stamped with a laughing skull and the words Pirate Treasure – Non-Refundable. Beneath the coin sat a tiny, waterlogged note in elegant handwriting:
Congratulations. You found the last coin of the legendary hoard of Captain “Two-Socks” McGee. It is cursed. Sort of. Mostly it just makes people argue about whose turn it is to buy the next round. Also it once belonged to a cabin boy who never got to keep anything. Take it if you dare. Or leave it and swim home like a sensible person. (You won’t.)
Pepper took it, of course.
The moment the coin touched his palm the wreck gave a low, theatrical groan. A giant octopus—clearly the previous occupant—rose from the gloom, looked at the empty chest, then at Pepper, and let out a bubbling sigh of pure parental disappointment.
“Again?” the octopus gurgled. “Every year another freckled idiot.”
What followed was less a battle and more a very wet argument. The octopus tried to take the coin back with one tentacle while using two others to point out that Pepper was far too young to handle cursed currency. Pepper countered by offering the octopus half a ship’s biscuit and a solemn promise never to tell anyone that the fearsome guardian of the wreck spent its evenings knitting scarves out of seaweed.
The octopus accepted the biscuit, adjusted its monocle (yes, monocle), and waved him off with a tentacle. “Fine. Keep the coin. But if it starts singing sea shanties at three in the morning, don’t come crying to me.”
Pepper kicked for the surface, coin clenched in his fist, heart hammering harder than any cannon. By the time he climbed back aboard, soaked and grinning like a maniac, the crew was already dividing the real raid loot. He stuffed the coin into his hammock and prayed no one would notice.
They noticed.

When Pepper finished his tale on the deck of the One-Eyed Storm, the only sound was the creak of rigging and the soft plop of Justice the parrot falling off its perch in surprise.
The boatswain suddenly found the horizon fascinating. Someone cleared a throat that definitely was not getting emotional. The captain stared at the gold coin in Pepper’s open palm for a long moment. Then he grunted, clapped the boy hard enough on the shoulder to nearly send him overboard, and roared:
“Double rum for the lad! And someone teach that octopus how to knit proper cables!”
The crew erupted. Not in the usual bloodthirsty way, but in the rare, dangerous way that happens when pirates remember they still have hearts under all the scars and superstition.
Because on the One-Eyed Storm, they valued gold, yes… but they valued even more the thing that made a cabin boy’s heart beat faster than any treasure map: the right to keep the one small, ridiculous, half-cursed miracle he had earned himself.
The gold coin stayed with Pepper.
He still hears it humming sea shanties at three in the morning.
He still grins every single time.
Fair winds, faithful comrades, and may your own trophies be just as foolishly, perfectly yours. 🏴☠💎

Adventure Quest The Pirate Brig - Cabin Boy's Trophy
https://i.imgur.com/5RDKDlhm.png

The Ominous Medallion
Captain  Bartholomew "Black Gull" Grimsby  stood at the center of the brig  One-Eyed Storm , his weather-beaten boots planted like anchors while the crew roared for justice. A pirate trial was underway, complete with the customary spit over the rail insteadof an oath and a green parrot that screeched, "Guilty! Guilty!" before anyone had spoken. In the middle stood young cabin boy  Finn O'Malley , red-haired, freckled, and gripping something so tightly in his fist that his knuckles had turned white. The crew shouted "Thief!" and demanded the hold, but Finn insisted the prize belonged to him. When Captain Grimsby asked, in an unusually gentle voice, what right he had to claimit, Finn swallowed hard and slowly opened his hand to reveal an  Ominous Medallion , black as midnight with a silver skull that seemed to wink whenever someone lied.

Finn admitted he had found the medallion while crawling through a flooded storeroom beneath the captured treasure ship. The older pirates had been too large to squeeze into the cramped compartment, so the unpleasant task had fallen to the smallest sailor aboard. Waist-deep in seawater, chased by fat rats that looked capable of joining the crew, Finn had uncovered a moldy sea chest jammed beneath a collapsed beam. Inside was the strange medallion wrapped in faded blue velvet. As soon as he picked it up, the ship groaned as if relieved someone had finally found it.

The crew immediately insisted that anything found during a raid belonged to everyone, but Finn shook his head. "You shared the gold because you carried the cannons," he explained. "You divided the jewels because you swung the cutlasses. But none of you wanted to crawl into that flooded hole. You called it cursed, haunted, and smelling worse than Old Briggs' socks. I earned this by doing the one job every last one of you refused." Even the boatswain reluctantly nodded, remembering how quickly he had volunteered someone else.

Then Finn revealed why the medallion mattered so much. The skull carved upon it matched a tiny drawing stitched inside the ragged cap his late father had lefthim. His father had been a sailor—not a famous pirate, but an honest deckhand who disappeared years earlier after sailing aboard a vessel rumored to carry the same strange relic. The medallion was the first proof that the old stories were true, and perhaps the only clue left that might someday lead Finn to learn what had become of him. To anyone else it was gloomy treasure. To Finn it was family.

Captain Grimsby took the medallion and held it close to his face. The silver skull seemed to grin directly at the parrot, which squawked, "Handsome bird! Handsomebird!" instead of its usual cry of "Guilty!" The entire crew burst into laughter, and the captain chuckled so hard his beard shook. "Either this trinket's enchanted," he said, "or our feathered lawyer has finally lost his tiny mind." Even the stern boatswain had to turn away, pretending to polish the parrot's perch while hiding a smile.

The captain placed the Ominous Medallion back into Finn's palm and closed the boy's fingers around it. "Pirate law says loot belongs to those who earn it," he declared. "And courage counts for more than swinging a cutlass." He clapped Finn on the shoulder, ordered a double rum for himself and an enormous mug of sweet cider for the cabin boy, and dismissed the trial. From that day on, whenever someone mocked Finn's little trophy, the parrot would mysteriously yell, "Finders keepers!" and the crew would laugh all over again. The Ominous Medallion remained with its rightful owner—not because of magic, but because every pirate aboard agreed that a brave heart was treasure enough.

🏴🦜 Cabin Boy's Trophy
The cabin boy slowly opened his fist.
Resting in his palm was the Accursed Diamond.
The ruby-red jewel gleamed with a strange inner light, wrapped in a black gold setting carved with tiny skulls. Every pirate aboard the One-Eyed Storm recognized it immediately. Sailors whispered that every captain who claimed it had lost his ship before a year had passed.
A murmur swept across the deck.
"The cursed gem..."
"So the little rat stole that..."
Captain Black Garrick rubbed his beard but said nothing.
Instead, he looked at the boy.
"Your name."
"Rory, sir."
"Well then, Rory... tell us why you're willing to take twenty lashes for a jewel everyone else is afraid to touch."
Rory took a shaky breath.
"When we boarded the treasure galleon, everyone ran below looking for chests of gold."
Several pirates nodded proudly.
"I stayed on deck."
A few snorted.
"I heard someone calling for help."
The laughter faded.
"There was an old navigator trapped beneath a fallen mast. His leg was crushed."
"You should've left him," someone muttered.
"I couldn't."
Rory looked at the captain.
"I cut the ropes, lifted the timber as best I could, and dragged him free before the fire reached us."
The captain remained silent.
"The old man knew he wouldn't survive."
Rory looked down at the diamond.
"He took this from around his neck and pushed it into my hand."
The crew exchanged uneasy glances.
"He told me everyone called it the Accursed Diamond because greedy men blamed the jewel for the terrible things they chose to do."
Rory swallowed.
"But he said it wasn't cursed."
"What was it then?" asked the captain.
"A test."
The deck became quiet enough to hear the sea against the hull.
"He said, 'Gold tells you how rich a pirate is. This diamond tells you what kind of pirate he is.'"
Rory closed his fingers around the jewel.
"I wasn't hiding treasure."
"I was protecting the last gift of the man whose life I couldn't save."
Even the parrot lowered its head.
The boatswain suddenly became fascinated with tightening a rope that didn't need tightening.
Captain Garrick stepped forward until he stood before Rory.
"You could have sold that diamond."
"I know."
"You could have become richer than the rest of us."
"I know."
"And yet you'd rather keep an old sailor's memory."
"Yes, Captain."
The old pirate grunted.
"Good."
He placed a weathered hand on Rory's shoulder.
"Any fool can steal gold."
He looked around at the crew.
"But it takes a real pirate to earn a trophy."
The captain lifted Rory's hand high for everyone to see.
"By the laws of the One-Eyed Storm, this diamond belongs to Rory—not because he found it, but because he proved himself worthy of carrying it."
No one argued.
Not even the loudest pirates.
The captain turned toward the galley.
"Bring this lad a double mug of rum!"
The crew erupted in cheers.
The parrot flapped its wings and squawked,
"Not guilty! ...Not guilty!"
The laughter echoed across the sea.
And from that day on, whenever anyone aboard the One-Eyed Storm saw the Accursed Diamond hanging around Rory's neck, they remembered that the greatest treasure a pirate could possess was not gold, but a heart brave enough to choose compassion over riches.
Fair winds and faithful comrades! 🏴☠💎
